The SOL and CSOL are the two skill shortage occupation lists of Australia. Below is the key difference between these two lists

SOL: Skilled Occupation List (SOL) is the in demand skilled occupation list of Australia. It is a part of the point based immigration system of Australia. If you want to apply for any non-sponsored Australian PR visa (i.e. subclass 189) in Australia, you first need to nominate an occupation from the relevant SOL list.

There are 150+ occupation in SOL and they are eligible under Sub class 189. If you are eligible under this category, then you can live and work anywhere in Australia. It is skilled independent visa. No sponsorship or nominations required.

CSOL: The Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL) is the list of consolidated occupation across various states and territories in Australia. If you want to apply for any state or territory sponsored/nominated Australian PR visa (i.e.sublass 190)

Skilled Occupations List (SOL)

CSOL have 5000+ occupation listed, those who are falling under this list are eligible under Sub class 190. If you are eligible under this then sponsorship or nomination from state government is required. It is State sponsorship.

Please note that you can get 5 extra points if you get a nomination for subclass 190 visa and you will instantly get an invitation to apply for the visa. You need to stay two years in the nominating state.

There are some occupations which are listed in both 189 & 190. They will be eligible under both category.
